Michael D. Murphy was born on May 23, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. He was educated at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Summa cum Laude in 1981. In 1984 Mr. Murphy graduated from University of Illinois, College of Law in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois receiving a Juris Doctor.
Mr. Murphy has 30 years of legal experience in Telecommunications and Business/Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property & Class Action Litigation. He has extensive comprehensive experience providing Legal Expertise for Business and Telecommunications Clients in the areas of Litigation, Administrative Agency Proceedings, Compliance with Federal and State Utility Laws, Regulations, and Policies, Rulemaking and Contract Negotiations.
Mr. Murphy has experience representing telephone local exchange and long distance companies, other competitive communications common carriers, both domestic and international, satellite transmission companies and users, cellular telephone and paging companies, and other wireless and private communications systems and users, in regulatory, and litigation matters. Mr. Murphy's experience in the practice of telecommunications law, includes the representation of radio stations, cable television systems, telephone companies, and other communications common carriers, wireless communications systems and private radio systems and users before federal and state regulatory agencies. The scope of his Mr. Murphy's telecommunications representation covers advice and counsel to clients on diverse matters and issues before the Federal Communications Commission and state public utility commissions, negotiations of contracts for services and facilities, and litigation, including licensing and administrative hearings, rate, tariff and enforcement proceedings before regulatory agencies, and litigation of commercial and antitrust actions and employment matters before federal and state courts and arbitration panels.

Mr. Murphy is a member of the Bars of Colorado State (1984) and the Illinois State Bar (1990), He has practiced before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit; U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; U.S. District Court for the Western District of Illinois; U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia; U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California; U.S. District Court for the Central District of California; U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado; is currently a Member of the Colorado and Illinois Bar Associations.
Mr. Murphy has prepared and presented lectures, handouts and classroom materials on Telecommunications Law and the 1996 Telecommunications Act for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credit (1995 and 1996). He Co-authored: Virtual Private Networks, Quarterly Journal of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society of AHA, Spring 1990. Mr. Murphy is also Co-author of Discovery of Expert Witnesses and Consultants.
